This policy explains what information Qonta collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it in plain language — the same way Qonta works.

Who we are
Qonta (“Qonta”, “we”, “us”) provides AI bookkeeping and working-capital services to small businesses over WhatsApp. We are based in Kigali, Rwanda. This policy applies to the Qonta service and this website.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to keep your books and assess working-capital eligibility:
- Account details — your name, business name, and WhatsApp number.
- Records you send us — the sales, expenses, receipts, mobile-money messages, notes and voice notes you share so Qonta can record them.
- Books we generate — the organized transactions, balances, and summaries Qonta creates from what you send.
- Usage and device information — basic technical data needed to deliver and secure the service.
How we use your information
- To keep your books — recording, categorizing, and summarizing your transactions.
- To answer your questions about your business in plain language.
- To assess your eligibility for working capital based on your recorded cash flow.
- To operate, secure, and improve the Qonta service.
- To contact you about your account and support requests.
When we share information
We do not sell your data. We share it only in these limited cases:
- Lending partners. If you choose to apply for working capital, we share the financial information needed to underwrite your application with the licensed bank and microfinance (MFI) partners that fund the loan.
- Service providers. Trusted providers that help us run the service (such as secure hosting and messaging), bound to protect your data.
- Legal reasons. Where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
How we protect your information
Your records are encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is restricted. Only you can access your books, and we apply industry-standard safeguards to keep your information secure.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information, and you can stop using Qonta at any time. To make a request, message us on WhatsApp at 0787 820 842 or email hello@qonta.rw.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service and meet legal and regulatory requirements. When it's no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the date above and, where appropriate, let you know.
